Saint Sevastiani came from the town of Sevasti in Phrygia. In the years of Emperor Dometian in the year 82, Saint Sebastian lived in the city of Marcianus, preaching Christ and was “slandered” to the ruler Sergius as a Christian. After she had presented herself before him, she confessed that she believed in Christ and that she was taught and baptized by the Apostle Paul and that she was ready to die for Christ.

Sevastian the cut doth wash milk, O blood and flesh as pertaining to the sword.

That’s why they first beat her all over her body with lead bullets, then put her in prison. There the Apostle Paul appeared to her and said:

Rejoice and do not be sorry, for you will go bound also to your own country for the confession of Christ.

So after seven days the lord released her from prison. And when he had burned a furnace, he commanded that they should put the saint into it. Then they threw her into the furnace and she stayed in there for a long time. But remaining harmless, he came out and made everyone admire and wonder a lot. Then, while the Holy Martyr was praying, there was a noise from heaven and a flash of lightning and thunder. There was even so much hail that it put out the furnace fire, but many were in danger of dying from this hailstorm. But this ruler also fled in fear with those who were present there.

After that the ruler says to her:

Who are you, what is your situation and what country are you from?

But Saint Sebastian was silent. But learning from those present that she was from the metropolis of Heraclea, he sent her bound to the ruler there.

Then the Angel of the Lord appeared before Saint Sebastian and said to her:

Take courage, daughter, for when you come to the ruler, then I will be with you.

Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian

Arriving in Heraclea, she was presented to the ruler, who, after hanging her on wood, which was like a mongoose, scraped her body for three hours. And the flesh of Saint Sebastian, while being cut, was fragrant, while she prayed in silence, so that all said that she did not have a living and animate body, but a lifeless one. After he had taken it down from the mongoose, he threw it to the beasts, that they might eat it.

But a great lion approached near Saint Sebastian, and strangely with a human voice he praised and beatified the Martyr of Christ, while he controlled and accused the unbelievers and the lawless. Then a lioness was also let loose against the Saint, who, coming close, stood on the other side of the Martyr. So the two lions stood, the one on the right hand and the other on the left of the saint, like lambs without bones.

So the ruler was astonished, and did not know what to do, so he ordered the martyr to be beheaded outside the city.

Saint Sebastian then, after being beheaded, miraculously, instead of flowing blood, she belched milk. And the holy body and the head of the holy woman, the disrespectful ruler ordered to put them in a sack, and with them to put three hundred litres of lead, and so to throw them into the sea. But an angel of the Lord tore open the sackcloth and brought out the relic to a place called Ramistos. When a woman of the senate, named Ammias, heard about this, she went to that place and, after wrapping the sacred relic in sheets and anointing it with myrrh, she buried it in a special place in Risedos to the glory of God.

Icon of Saint Sebastian with polished gold background

100% guaranteed transaction!

100% money back guarantee!

Immediate delivery to the products we have in stock.

[3819,2737
1176
0":"post-81913","1":"product","2":"type-product","3":"status-publish","4":"has-post-thumbnail","6":"product_cat-church-supplies","7":"product_cat-orthodox-icons","8":"product_tag-athonite-items","10":"first","11":"instock","12":"taxable","13":"shipping-taxable","14":"purchasable","15":"product-type-variable
["GET
