Feast of September 13
Saint Aristides was an Athenian patriot, a philosopher of glorious Athenian descent, and lived during the 2nd century AD. century during the reign of Hadrian. He became a Christian from Saint Dionysius and Saint Hierotheos and wrote an apology to Hadrian in favor of the persecuted Christians. He was then expelled and because Hadrian was missing he went to Rome where he apologized. He was then transferred to Athens where he was martyred, after he was hanged in the market of Athens, on September 13, 120 AD. Jerome wrote a hymn to the Saint and describes him as an Apostle.
